ABOUT CHELSIE

Chelsie Esek, M.S., CCC-SLP, FCCS

graduated Magna Cum Laude from Howard University with her Masters of
Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders.
She is a board-certified Speech-Language
Pathologist 
and a member of
the American Speech-Language Hearing
Association (ASHA)
.

Chelsie also is Fundamental Critical Care Support (FCCS) certified

which allows her to identify and respond to significant

changes with unstable patients and initiate management of

acute life-threatening conditions. 

Chelsie interned with various specialized schools,

private practices, skilled rehabilitation facilities, and

hospital settings. During her time at the Howard University

Hospital andMedStar Washington Hospital Center, she adapted
the love and ambition to become a medical SLP and
strives to address the needs of her community
with
 Esek Health Care Services. (coming soon!)
Chelsie graduated Magna Cum Laude from the
University of North Texas
 where she double-
majored and received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in
Dance and Bachelor of Arts in Speech-Language

Pathology.

Chelsie is Nigerian-American and is an avid reader, auntie of 5,

gym-lover, foodie, traveler, adventurer, couponer and an excellent party host! She currently
resides in Washington D.C.

A SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST (SLP) IS A HIGHLY-TRAINED PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DIAGNOSIS, PROGNOSIS, AND REMEDIATION OF SPEECH, LANGUAGE, COGNITIVE-COMMUNICATION, VOICE, SWALLOWING, FLUENCY AND OTHER RELATED DISORDERS.

WITH HER EXTENSIVE ARTISTIC BACKGROUND ... 

Chelsie incorporates art/movement therapy in her clinical approach. Art therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses visual arts as a major mode of expression within the therapy space. This allows her clients expresses their emotions artistically and verbally, allowing for a unique means of exploring one’s thoughts and feelings.Artistic expression can be helpful for releasing emotions, which are difficult to verbalize or have been suppressed over timeChelsie is currently assisting with clinical research in exploring cultural and linguistic familiarities of figurative expressions from various hip hop and R&B musical genres and African American adults conducted by Dr. Alaina Davis, PhD, CCC-SLP. She is also assisting with investigating similarities in the oral mechanism exam process between Speech-Language Pathologist and Orthodontists to help identify any abnormalities that may impact speech and language production for referrals conducted by Dr. Martine Elie, PhD, CCC-SLP.
